Skin film packaging

Skin film packaging, also known as Vacuum Skin Packaging (VSP), is an innovative method used to preserve and showcase food products, especially meats, seafood, and ready-made meals. This packaging technique combines a clear, flexible film with a rigid plastic or laminated paperboard tray or sheet. The high-barrier film tightly conforms to the contours of the item, creating a vacuum-sealed environment.

The result is a visually appealing, second-skin appearance that not only enhances the product’s presentation but also significantly extends its shelf life by minimizing exposure
to air and preventing contamination. Skin film packaging is particularly valued for its ability to maintain the freshness, color, and texture of perishable goods while also being puncture-resistant and durable, making it ideal for packaging products with irregular shapes or sharp edges.

Additionally, skin film packaging often features customizable oxygen transmission rates (OTR), such as 10K OTR, to suit different product needs. This adaptability ensures that the packaging can meet specific requirements for freshness and shelf stability, making it a versatile and reliable choice in the food packaging industry.
